3D Fossilized Crab in Habitat from Southwest Turkey, Rare
This is a rare fossilized freshwater crab (Potamon sp.) with spectacular detail. This crab is immortalized in its little dugout home as both the crab and its home were preserved. Hailing from Turkey, it is very unusual to see shellfish fossilized in this manner. These crabs are found in Travertine blocks in southwest Turkey. a 3D Fossil, this specimen is amazingly like-like and well-intact for this type of fossil. These were showcased at the Tuscon Gem show in 2023. Ships in its protective case and includes the description card that came from the man who mined these in Turkey and who we purchased them from in Tuscon. He does all of his own digging, cleaning and presentation. The crab comes in a protective acrylic case and is putty mounted to the bottom of the case. It can be removed easily if desired.
