This is a Fish Fossil from the well-known Green River Valley Formation in the Dempsey Quarry of Wyoming dating back 50 million years. This is a well-preserved specimen centered in a large plate. Knightia is an extinct genus of clupeid bony fish that lived in the freshwater lakes and rivers of North America and Asia during the Eocene epoch. The Green River Valley Formation tells a story of what the environment was like about 50 million years ago in what is now parts of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. The exceptional specimens from this deposit are collected worldwide.
