This is a large Pyrite Sun disc also known as a Pyrite Sand Dollar. This is a larger specimen covered with shimmery golden Pyrite. These Pyrite Sun formations are totally natural. Pyrite suns are a fascinating and relatively rare occurrence. Currently, they are only sourced in Illinois, USA. They formed 350 million years ago alongside coal and were under immense pressure during formation, creating this spectacular sun or 'sand dollar' shape. Wonderful to hold or display.
