About the Sacral Chakra

The Sanskrit word for the second chakra is Svadhisthana meaning sweetness. You can think of the 2nd, or sacral chakra, as the place where our most basic joys arise. Emotion, pleasure, our wants for intimacy, affection - and food! It is a place of enjoyment and appreciation for the simple things. This chakra is represented by the color orange and the planets Mercury, Jupiter and our Moon. We are constantly trying to control our instinctual desires, our appetites.
