Bumblebee Jasper is the trade name for the brilliant yellow fibrous Calcite that comes from Mount Papandayan, West Java, Indonesia. Found only at Mount Papandayan, Bumblebee Jasper is born of a unique combination of geological and weather events that occur here. Discovered in 1990, this striking mineral combination consists of Calcite and a mixture of Hematite, Pyrite, and other volcanic material. In 2017, it was confirmed that the orange color is caused by Realgar. Since it contains little to no Quartz, Bumblebee Jasper is actually not a Jasper at all, but instead a fibrous Calcite with a unique mixture of volcanic minerals.
